Planning to visit chicago aka the "Windy city" ? I have penned down my own experience, highlighting some of the top places!
We visited chicago during our spring break in the month of March. Day's were perfect but nights can get really freezing cold! Ours was a 4-day itinerary enough to see most of the city
- 360 Chicago: On Day 1, we visited the 360 observation deck. This is located at the iconic John Hancock building, it provides a breathtaking 360 degrees view of the city skyline and Lake Michigan. We visited the place during the night time and could literally see the whole city lit up! If you want to have an unforgettable experience, 360 Chicago observation deck offers a ride called the TILT – which is one of the Chicago’s highest thrill ride – a glass enclosed, moving platform that literally tilts you out over Michigan Avenue from the 94th Floor
- Millenium Garden: On Day 2, after having a heavy brunch at an italian restaurant (well, who doesn't like italian food!) we spent most of our day at the millenium park, in downtown chicago. One of the magnificent structure - The Bean - forms an archway at the park. Take a Stroll under and around the structure for some mirror like ( a bit distorted ) reflections. Also do not forget to splash around at the crown fountain, an interactive fountain made up of huge glass towers that display digital videos!
- Chicago Riverwalk: In the evening, we took a leisure walk along the riverfront. This is an open, 1.25 mile path along the chicago river. Check out the amazing architecture, also stop by for some great food and places to hangout. You can also take the architecture boat tour, but make sure you check the schedule and plan accordingly. Unfortunately, the time we visited there was a shut down due to an unavoidable situation hence we missed the boat ride but the splendid view of the city was all worth it!
- Willis Tower: On Day 3, we had our breakfast at nutella cafe (you can visit too, incase you have a sweet tooth like i do) and later visited the Willis tower, another magnificent giant tower, that has a glass balcony protruding out of 103rd floor of the tower. We spent most of our time trying to get the picture perfect, so here is an important piece of information if you do not get the perfect shot at first attempt no worries! you can always get in the queue as many times as you wish like i did!
- Navy Pier: In the evening we visited the Navy Pier, located at the Chicago shoreline of Lake Michigan. We took a long stroll at the shoreline and then enjoyed one of the most amazing ferris wheel ride - centennial wheel that soars up to nearly 200 ft up.
- Shedd Aquarium: On our last day at chicago we visited the shedd aquarium, one of the biggest public indoor aquarium. The aquarium is huge (takes an entire day) and houses many aquatic animals from tiny little fishes to large whales. I especially enjoyed watching the sea lion cruz, the beluga whales and the dolphin show. Do not forget to visit the star touch pool where you can literally dip your hand into the pool water and touch these extraordinary creatures!
